Winter Weather Preparedness Alert | City of Easley

The City of Easley is monitoring a winter weather event expected this weekend for the Easley area and the Upstate of South Carolina. Forecast models show snow is likely to begin late Friday night into Saturday, with the highest chance of snow accumulation Saturday morning into early afternoon, and cold temperatures persisting through the weekend. Snow totals in our region are forecast to be generally 1–3 inches, though actual amounts will depend on storm track and timing.
We understand this event may impact travel, power systems, daily routines, and public safety for several days. City departments are actively preparing and working closely with Pickens County, local nonprofits, and neighboring municipalities to coordinate response efforts and support throughout the storm and its aftermath.

Public Safety & Emergency Response

Our Police and Fire Departments are preparing to maintain emergency response capabilities throughout this storm by:
 • Increasing staffing levels
 • Equipping vehicles for winter driving conditions
 • Confirming backup communication and operations plans

Please remember: 911 is for life-threatening emergencies only.

For non-emergency assistance, please call 864-859-4025.

Public Works, Parks & Recreation Maintenance, and City Operations

City crews are preparing for winter operations, including pre-positioning equipment and materials to support potential impacts. These teams will prioritize critical roadways and infrastructure safety. Road conditions may become slippery or hazardous, and treatment effectiveness can be limited in freezing temperatures.

Warming Station Available

The Larry Bagwell Gym will serve as a warming station during normal operating hours:
• Monday–Friday: 6:00 AM – 9:00 PM
• Saturday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
• Sunday: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM
Provided the facility has power.
Inside the J.B. Red Owens Sports Complex — 111 Walkers Way, Easley, SC 29642

Charging Stations Available

The City of Easley Fire Department stations will serve as charging stations, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM:
• Station 5-1 — 1089 South Pendleton Street, Easley, SC 29642
• Station 5-2 — 180 Glenwood Road, Easley, SC 29640
• Station 5-3 — 640 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642

Resident Resources & Community Support

The City will use its official website as a central hub to share information from local nonprofits, utilities, Pickens County, and community organizations. This will help streamline assistance and connect residents with resources for various needs before, during, and after the storm.

What Residents Should Do Now

• Avoid unnecessary travel when conditions begin
• Charge phones and backup power sources
• Prepare food, water, medications, flashlights, and batteries
• Protect exposed pipes and drip faucets to prevent freezing
• Safely heat your home and plan for possible outages
• Check on neighbors, especially seniors and individuals with limited mobility

Snow and cold temperatures can cause widespread travel disruptions and increase the risk of power outages. Please monitor official updates closely and plan ahead.

The City of Easley will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates as information becomes available. Please follow the official City of Easley Facebook page for the most accurate updates.

Stay safe and prepared, Easley
