10/10/2024 Will be the Last Day for Grass Cart Pick Up This Year
Public Works
Attention City of Easley Residents,

Pickens County, in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT), has secured storm debris removal services to assist in the ongoing recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene. Starting as early as October 14, 2024, crews will begin the removal of storm debris.

To ensure an efficient and effective cleanup process, please follow these important guidelines:

  • Placement of Debris: Please place your brush and storm debris in the right of way, ensuring it is off of private property, away from obstructions and clear of the roadway.

  • Debris Specifications: All sections of debris should be cut into pieces no longer than 6-7 feet. Root balls and stumps will not be collected.

  • Exclusions: Please note, this service is for green waste only, such as trees, limbs and other vegetative debris. Household garbage will not be collected as part of this effort. Additionally, debris will not be picked up from private roads.

For residents unable to move storm debris on their own, Pickens County is actively working to identify volunteers who can provide assistance. We will share updates on this initiative as more information becomes available.

With high demand, the removal process will take time. We appreciate your patience. Your cooperation is vital to help us restore our community. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to recover from this storm.

Please be advised: For the time being, due to high volumes The City of Easley will only be allowed 5 loads of brush to be delivered to the Pickens County Landfill per day, Monday - Friday.

For further updates and information, please visit the Pickens County website and/or Facebook page.

Sincerely,

The City of Easley Public Works Department

GPATS - TRAFFIC SURVEY

Due to changes in the recycling market, items can no longer be picked up curbside like the City of Easley has collected in the past.

The City of Easley does offer two attended recycle drop stations to help prevent items from being contaminated. If recyclable items are contaminated the items will be sent directly to the landfill.

In order for these recycling stations to continue collecting, all items must be separated by type:

·         Number 1 and number 2 plastics with bottle caps removed.
·         Cardboard with all plastics and other packaging materials removed.
·         Glass types do not need to be separated.
·         Paper products (this includes drink cartons)
·         Aluminum and tin cans (cans must be empty)
·         Household garbage is accepted at both sites.

Certain items cannot be accepted at the City of Easley recycle stations but may taken to the Pickens County recycle stations or landfill. These items include:

·         Oil
·         Chemicals or chemical based products
·         Paints
·         Electronics.
·         Furniture or appliances (Call Public Works office prior to Thursday for a pickup (864)855-7916)

These recycle drop centers are open Mon., Tues., Thurs., Fri., & Sat.  from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and closed Wednesdays and Sundays. Recycle stations are located at the Operation and Maintenance Facility at 801 Pope Field Rd, and the second station is located behind City Hall at 201 W A Ave.  (Holidays may affect days of operation)

Please feel free to contact the City of Easley’s Public Works Department with any questions or concerns. We are located at 801 Pope Field Rd, Easley SC 29642, or you can give us a call at (864)855-7916.

Thank you.

Dear Residents,

We want to inform you that, effective September 9th, 2024, the City of Easley will no longer be accepting glass for recycling. This decision comes as a result of recent market changes that have impacted the feasibility of glass recycling.

We understand this may be disappointing news, but we encourage you visit the Pickens County recycle center at 2035 Old Liberty Rd, Liberty, SC 29657 to dispose of glass containers or consider alternative disposal or reuse options. We remain committed to supporting sustainable practices and will continue to provide recycling services for other materials.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

The grant award is through the Safe Streets for All (SS4A) USDOT Program. Easley was awarded a planning and demonstration grant to develop a safety action plan for the City. The safety action plan will identify existing safety issues and develop strategies and projects to reduce and eliminate serious-injury and fatal crashes on the street network. The safety action plan is the first step in identifying projects and sets the City up to apply for Implementation funding from the SS4A program in future rounds.

Due to Inclement Weather Grass Carts will Not be Picked Up on September 26th
Public Works
Dear Easley Residents,

As we continue to recover from the damage left by Hurricane Helene, we want to remind you about the City of Easley's brush and yard debris collection policy. Please be advised that the Public Works Department will not pick up brush and yard debris that has been placed on the curbside by a contractor.

If you've hired a contractor for home repair or yard work, it is their responsibility to remove any debris they generate. To ensure proper service for all residents, please make sure that any debris from contractor work is hauled away by the contractor themselves.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our city clean and beautiful! If you have any questions, please contact the Public Works Department at (864)855-7916.

Best regards,
City of Easley Public Works Department
