Every Life Is a Life Worth Saving
When an individual experiences an opioid overdose, Narcan (naloxone) can reverse the effects and restore breathing. However, after revival, some individuals decline transport or additional medical treatment. Because naloxone can wear off in 30–90 minutes—while opioids may remain in the system longer—there is a real risk of returning to overdose once its effects diminish.
To address this critical gap, we have developed a Leave Behind Kit.
What the Leave Behind Kit Includes:
- Narcan (naloxone) for emergency overdose reversal
- Clear safe-use and overdose prevention instructions
- Contact information for our SAFEline Division for support, resources, and follow-up care
This kit empowers individuals and those around them with the tools and information needed to respond quickly if another overdose occurs.
Why This Matters
- Opioid overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the United States.
- The average EMS response time is 13.3 minutes—precious minutes that can mean the difference between life and death.
- Immediate access to naloxone saves lives.
By placing life-saving medication directly into the hands of individuals and families, we reduce preventable deaths, increase opportunities for recovery, and strengthen community safety.
