Bringing community awareness to substance use disorders through education and outreach strengthens prevention efforts and promotes healthier, safer communities. By emphasizing youth prevention and providing accurate, accessible information, we equip young people and families with the tools to make informed decisions, recognize early warning signs, and build the confidence to refuse harmful substances. At the same time, increasing awareness fosters understanding, reduces stigma, and supports individuals in recovery by creating a culture of compassion, accountability, and community-wide support.
We will expand our youth outreach efforts through Operation Prevention, a national initiative developed by the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and Discovery Education. This program provides proactive, no-cost digital resources designed to raise awareness about the dangers of substance misuse and opioid addiction. Available in schools, homes, and communities across the country, Operation Prevention equips students, educators, and families with age-appropriate lessons and refusal skills that inspire life-changing conversations and empower young people to make safe, informed choices.
Community partnerships are key to the success of this mission. Toyota of Easley generously supported our outreach efforts through a significant investment in two unique vehicles. What were once intended simply as point A-to-B transportation tools have become powerful engagement platforms—sparking conversations, drawing youth interest at events, and helping build meaningful relationships that strengthen trust and expand our prevention message throughout the community.
